    Traditional Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga

In the whirlwind of early motherhood, overwhelmed, overstimulated, and a touch lost, I stumbled upon the transformative embrace of Traditional Hatha Yoga. It became my sanctuary, gently guiding me back to my authentic self. The journey was both challenging and healing, a process of rediscovery and self-nurturing thanks to my beautiful little girl.

Yoga, to me, is not just a physical practice; it's a way of life both on and off the mat, it’s the way I show up to the world as a mother, friend, teacher and colleague.

Hatha yoga has been a practice that helps me to see the beauty in the mundane. It grants the power to find joy and excitement in the simplicity of everyday existence. Through my own journey, I've come to realise that yoga is a profound path to cultivating a calm and steady mind.

Now, as I embark on sharing this profound practice with others, my mission is clear - to infuse each class with heart and authenticity. I aspire to guide students to discover their own edges, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. Together, let's delve into the essence of yoga, transcending the mat, and weaving threads of joy and purpose into every facet of life.

  • Margarita Houllis

    Traditional Hatha Yoga

Twenty years ago, I was feeling alone whilst navigating the nursing world after moving interstate. It was then that I discovered Hatha Yoga and felt the positive impact upon my mind and body. To be able to switch off and navigate the busyness of my mind reconnecting with my body, oh what a relief! Following this spark, I explored Iyengar, Bikram, hot yoga, gym yoga, power yoga, Kundalini yoga, Ashtanga yoga, shadow yoga, vinyasa, Yin yoga, Barkan method Hatha Yoga. I became a connoisseur of sorts.

I began teaching in 2013, and have completed many trainings over the following years:

Jimmy Barkan Hot Yoga Barkan Method Hatha 200 hr; Barkan Method Level 2/3 hatha Vinyasa; Power Living Australia Yoga Vinyasa 200hr with Duncan Peak, Emee Dillon, Cassie Lee, Chris Wilson; Power Living Australia Yoga Advanced Vinyasa training with Duncan Peak, Emee Dillon, Adam White; Women’s restorative and fertility yoga Rosie Matheson; Yoga Kids SA Teacher Training Lindy Pulsford.

I was teaching, studying these trainings, and also working full time as a Nurse which eventuated into overload and burnout. Shelving my teaching role, I was halted wondering how I got to this point doing all this yoga, although now it seems obvious, I couldn’t understand. A few years earlier I had met Octavio and experienced his Traditional Tantric Hatha yoga teachings which I was drawn to and in my deep reset I picked up his teachings and committed to exclusively practicing this way daily which was a very challenging experience as it felt like a full re-calibration of my being a home coming of sorts.

Come 2023 I felt ready to enter another teacher training completing:

Traditional Tantric Hatha Yoga 200hr with Octavio Salvado, Emma Salvado, Ami Effiendy. Currently I am studying Advanced Traditional Tantric Hatha Yoga 300hrs with Octavio Salvado, Emma Salvado, Ellen Arthur from The Practice in Canguu, Bali.

This path is so healing, and empowering when practiced to its precise science. This is what I’ve learnt and continue to discover for myself through my practice within my life on and off the mat. This is what I wish to share with you. Traditional Tantric Hatha Yoga, has re-awakened my calling to teach.

Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me and my journey, whether you’re a beginner or advanced, or even somewhere in the middle. If any of this resonates or you’re just curious I would love to meet you on the mat wherever you’re at. Namaste, Margarita
